How much do I have to pay to get a transmission and oil gasket replaced on a 2002 dodge grand caravan?

my transmission and oil gaskets are leaking, and seeing that this was a hand-me-down type car, it was already kinda beat up. I don't want to risk going a 3 mile drive since the leak seems so bad. Any help would be nice. How much do I have to pay to get a transmission and oil gasket replaced on a 2002 dodge grand caravan?
The cost would depend on which gaskets or seals are leaking. There is more than one transmission and oil gasket. How much do I have to pay to get a transmission and oil gasket replaced on a 2002 dodge grand caravan?

  • What transmission oil do i use for my 1999 VW Passat GLS 4 cylinder?

i bought a used car and i dont have a owners manualWhat transmission oil do i use for my 1999 VW Passat GLS 4 cylinder?
All wrong answers: you must obtain the fluid at your local VW-Audi dealership. It's a special fluid that runs between 14-22 per quart to purchase (depending upon dealership). Put the wrong the fluid in and you'll probably cause the transmission to shift oddly at best, at worst, destroy the internals.

Hope this helps, a car nut. What transmission oil do i use for my 1999 VW Passat GLS 4 cylinder?
Look on your transmission's dip stick. The type of transmission oil you need should be stamped on it.

If not when you go to buy transmission fluid go to an automotive parts house and ask one of the associates what type you need.

You can also purchase a manual there as well that covers types of oil and fluids as well as a lot of repairs up to and including engine rebuild.
call a local vdub dealer to find out the proper kind it could be one of two..

1- generic kind you could buy at any parts house

2- the good stuff only able to purchase from the dealer its synthetic type,

for your pocket books sake hope its the first one and never take it all out and replace it all new your dub will never run the same the bands are self adjusting in the trans and adjust to the fluid so if it is really thin as new fluid is the trans will not adjust back only as it thickens
    i believe it's Dexron III

VW only uses a long life antifreeze, Pentosin p/n: G0012000

UNTILL THE DIP STICK IS AT THE FULL MARKI have a 1999 Honda Accord, How many qts. does it need when changing my transmission oil?
Your local auto parts dealer should be able to look it up in a book or the local Honda dealer should have a parts dept. that could look it up.
you will need roughly 8 , with a little to spare. Get ready for a new transmission.
It will take up 4 1/4 quart.

On the '90 Dodge Omni 5-speed, where is the Transmission oil fill opening located ?

I cannot locate where to add or check trans oil level on the 5-speed manual transaxle of a 1990 Dodge Omni. Please be as specific and as detailed as possible. Thank you.On the '90 Dodge Omni 5-speed, where is the Transmission oil fill opening located ?
The transmission has a rubber plug (about 1'; in diameter) with a ';pull tab'; on it on the end of the trans-axle. If you turn your steering wheel all the way to the left, you should be able to look in between the front fender and the tire and see the end of the trans-axle and the plug. The rubber plug simply pulls out by hand. The correct fluid level is to the bottom of the rubber plug hole (parked on a level surface). If you need to add fluid, put it into this same hole, until the fluid begins to run back out. Then simply push the rubber plug back into the hole. IIRC, the trans-axle uses Chrysler automatic transmission fluid. HTH! Good Luck!!On the '90 Dodge Omni 5-speed, where is the Transmission oil fill opening located ?
    I can't remember exactly...but all manuals have a check/fill hole, and a drain.

The check is usually about halfway up the case and is a large bolt or plug, usually the same size as the drain. On your car it will be on the backside (towards the windshield) of the case, I think, and it will probably have to be on a lift to check it.

Be certain about what you put in there...some of the FWD manuals used regular Dexron ATF instead of gear oil like older manuals.
I agree with your first answerer. There's no way to check a standard transmission for the tranny oil level. He told you where to look to see if it has any. If you find out that it does need some, don't put more than 1/4 pint.
it is a plug that screws into the side of the tranny

the only way to check it is to lift the car and use a 3/8 inch rachet and remove the plug, then you stick you finger in the hole and see if you feel oil

It's True!!! you are not expected to check the fluid level on that model your mechanic is.

What type of transmission oil should i put in a kx 125?

Don't buy into that over priced oil at the shop. I raced the 07 baja 500 using castrol GTX 20- 50 in my tranny, as long as you change it often I have never had a problem. I have had problems using that over priced crap though. What type of transmission oil should i put in a kx 125?
Quality, brand name, 4 stroke motor oil.

All 2 stroke engines require motor oil in the crankcase. What type of transmission oil should i put in a kx 125?
Try looking in your owners manual! It will recommend the viscosity and rating to use...

Is it legal to leave 2 or 3 gallons of oil/transmission fluid in an open container on your driveway?

I call the police/Fire Department and asked them about my neighbor who has two containers of oil/transmission fluid in open containers for at least one week. They call me back and said they could not do anything about it because it has to be 55 gallons or more to be illegal. Does anyone know anything about this? I thought it would hurt the waste stream if this spilled. Is it legal to leave 2 or 3 gallons of oil/transmission fluid in an open container on your driveway?
It is stupid of your neighbor, but there is not much you can do. The only thing you can do is talk to your neighbor about it. Is it legal to leave 2 or 3 gallons of oil/transmission fluid in an open container on your driveway?
That small of an amount will do no harm to the environment unless pored straight into a stream. It is gets tipped over it will spread out and evaporate over a period of a weeks or months depending on the environment. .
it might not be illegal , but its not ethical. best to take it to recycle[auto parts store] or put it in sealed container.[milk jugs. laundry jugs] they will take if for free/ some people will buy it,
I DONT KNOW IF ITS ILLEGAL BUT ITS NOT SAFE KEEP IT SEALED ATLEAST

How many quarts of transmission oil?

how many quarts of transmission oil does a ford f150 automatic 1997 4.6 liter v8 need ? i just changed the filter. How many quarts of transmission oil?
have at least 6 qts. handy and put 4 in and then just start engine and let warm up and work the shift lever a few times and check the level and add as necessary. How many quarts of transmission oil?
    usualy about 5 to6
It should say in the owner's manual. If you are without one call your local Ford dealership and ask to talk to somebody in the garage and they'll be able to tell you in a second.
If you did not drain the torque convertor (there is a small plug on it) it will likely take 5 or 6 quarts. Dont fill it to the full mark until you get the transmission hot. It will expand close to a Quart with the total volume that is in the transmission (about 12 or 13 quarts) when at normal operating temperature. Dont overfill it.
