What does it mean when a mechanc from jiffy lubes says that your transmission oil looks like water?

there are no mechanics at jiffy lube.

actually they are not supposed to even say how the fluid looks, just to base it off of manufacturer recommendations. I might take it to a mechanic though to find out. What does it mean when a mechanc from jiffy lubes says that your transmission oil looks like water?
Could be water/coolant. Some auto transmissions oil is cooled through the side of the radiator. Possible something cracked and the two fluids mix. Or... the guy was in idiot %26amp; didn't know the difference between hot and cold fluid. Had a 93 ford SHO same thing happened. caught it too late had to repl trans $4500What does it mean when a mechanc from jiffy lubes says that your transmission oil looks like water?
Go to a real mechanic and have it checked. They work at Jiffy Lube because all they can do is change oil, and they are not that good at that simple task.
It doesn't mean anything. Service the transmission when the manufacturer dictates or get a second opinion by a licensed automotive tech.

Transmission fluid can appear clear. Depends on the type of vehicle. For the person that said all tranny fluid is red, obviously they aren't car smart. I would get a second opinion too. Just go to any national chain, walk in the office and ask if someone can look at the fluid on the stick, assuming it's automatic. If it's a stick shift, then it should definately look clear as that takes either 80/90 or regular motor oil in some rare cases.
just means its real thin....have it checked pretty often for the next little while...... and the guy who said transmission fluid isnt dyed red must not have seen too much ATF. All the /ATF i have seen is red
It means the so called mechanic at Jiffy Lube is an idiot there is no way you transmission fluid can look like water it is dyed red about the only way it can look like water is because it is thin find a real mechanic
Jiffy lube does not employ mechanics. They are what we refer to as a GS, or general service technician. And several other names i cant mention here as well... They get paid to up sell preventive maintenance but do not always know what they are looking for. Sometimes clean tranny fluid will look transparent on certain dipsticks. If you ever have a question take it to a shop and get another opinion. Im not saying that Jiffy Lube is a bad place or anything but it is what it is, and it ceartainly is not a repair shop with trained mechanics. The good ones did their time and no longer work for that kind of pay.
