Preferably, use the TIS instructions...

Go to TIS, Vehicle Identification (7 E38/740 iLsedan/M62/1995).

Page right, click Document/Repair Instructions/Automatic Transmissions/Transmission Assembly/Oil change A5s310Z/

then page right. This is for the procedure.

For the right type of oil, after Vehicle ID, click Operating Fluids/

Have Fun !
first jack the car up to a good height and place two safety stands under the frame then lower the car on the stands making sure it is secure, since this is a messy job put some cardboard under the transmission, loosen the bolts and remove but leave at least two of them in place until you can drain as much fluid as possible, now remove the last two bolts and remove the pan, wash the pan out with some var sol and wipe clean make sure you remove all the old gasket from the pan and transmission, remove the old filter and replace with a new one,put the new gasket on the pan and and replace it to the transmission, put all the bolts in and tightened by hand, then tightened all the bolts equally but not over tight.lower the car full the transmission with the proper fluid, start the car and check for leaks.after Driving the car check to make sure there is no leaks and re tightened the bolts if necessary.good luck
You have to drop the trans. pan on that, it is a messy job.

Take the pan completely off wash it thoroughly and change the filter, the filter should be provided in the same kit with the pan gasket, and make SURE that you also change the ';o'; ring provided.
Get a manual first. It will tell you how to do it exactly. Changed my tranny fluid on 3 series. Check out bavauto.com for parts.
