What is the difference between transmission oil and engine oil?

Transmission fluid is a hydraulic fluid and motor oil is a lubricant. While transmission fluid does have some lubricating properties, it is not enough to sustain an engine. Motor oil is an excellent lubricant, but not such a good hydraulic fluid so it can not be used in a transmission.

Transmission fluid can also be used in power steering systems without harm since that is a hydraulic system, but not motor oil. What is the difference between transmission oil and engine oil?
one is for the transmission, the other for the engine...

Oh, and you are retarded. What is the difference between transmission oil and engine oil?
Transmission fluid keeps the same velocity hot or cold. Motor oil is formulated to work differently in cold weather than in hot weather. Sometimes a quart of transmission fluid is good to put in the oil. But never put motor oil in the transmission, it will gum it up and ruin it.
transmission oil is thinner it's made for the trans

engine oil is made to lubricate better cause it's more moving then the trans but ay large parts , u can use trans oil in the engine if ur engine is dirty but then change the oil right away i'll say 1 quart of trans oil for 4 quarts
