What type of transmission oil will a ford explorer require?

What type of engine oil will a ford explorer require? And how many quarts would be reqiured to fill the transmission after you extract the oil.

Ford Motorcraft Mercon ATF. Or Mercon 5. Its a specific fluid. If you use a different fluid you may ruin the transmission. It is pretty pricey, or is known to be around $7 a quart. And you will need about 5 quarts.What type of transmission oil will a ford explorer require?

Your question is a little confusing, are you changing your engine oil, or your transmission fluid?





If your changing your engine oil then 5w30 or 10w30 depending on your preferance, and it will be 5 quarts,





as for transmission fluid


It will be type F fluid, as for the amount, im not sure, but if you buy from an auto parts store as in Advance Auto Parts or AutoZone, ask them there and they will easaly tell you
Either motor craft ATF which stands for automatic transmission fluid type F or Mercon 5 they both will work.
Written on the dip stick, mercon 3, is replaced by mercon 5
TQ-95 is suitable for all ford 4 speeds
