Is it necessary to do transmission oil flush in order to change transmission oil?

Honda accord service manual says that I can change the transmission oil simply by draining the old oil and then adding the new oil. Other people tell me that the transmission needs to constantly have fluid or I risk messing it up. What do I do???Is it necessary to do transmission oil flush in order to change transmission oil?
NEVER flush an automatic transmission. Just dump it,change the filter, clean the pan %26amp; fill'er with fluid. Is it necessary to do transmission oil flush in order to change transmission oil?
If the engine is turned off and you drain the transmission oil, you may or may not change the filter. Believe the manual. As long as you do not run the car down the road, you can drain and refill your tranny. Just like an engine. You don't run it without oil, and it is ok to change it and the filter too. You can have your oil change place do it. It should not cost too much more than an oil change. 25-35 bucks I would think. A flush? Call honda, but a fluid and filter change should be just what the manual ordered
well jay ill tell you like this...im a mechanic who works with transmissions A LOT!!!! in a honda accord 1st off you need a special honda fluid or an additive which my shop uses called x4. you do need to have fluid in there while your changing it because in order to get all the fluid out of your transmission you need to have the vehicle running...this opens the torque converter. and thus releasing any and all dirt...now taking out the plug to the transmission pan will drain the oil but not all of it and wont release the dirt stuck in the filter (its really a mesh screen that never gets changed) and if im correct i believe your vehicles transmission dipstick is on the drivers side of the vehicle in front of your air filter and battery...your will need a machine that can go through that tube. with this information i would not advise a service be done at home unless you have the correct equipment.

also...a flush is a lot more than an oil change..and a flush will not hurt an automatic transmission if it hurt yours before its because you neglect it to much....and beat it to death....a transmission flush at my shop in MA is 109.99 and the only place lower than us is 89.99 and they recycle fluid we use new...
